Much of the Ribble Valley is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The borough is made up of picturesque towns, villages and scenic countryside.

Due to the borough being predominantly rural, many households and businesses are not connected to mains water and draw their water from a private water supply such as a borehole or spring.

The Private Water Supplies (England) Regulations 2016 require all Private Water Supplies, except those serving single privately owned dwellings, to be risk assessed by the local authority and to be routinely sampled. There are currently 146 such private water supplies within the borough.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated candidate to take on the exciting role of risk assessing and sampling such supplies.

The successful candidate will also support the Councils emergency planning officer where required.

Good IT skills, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as well as a flexible approach to working hours are also essential.

Join us to receive a host of benefits such as flexible working hours (flexitime scheme in operation with no core hours), generous leave entitlement, occupational pension scheme, and training/development opportunities.

For an informal discussion and more information, please call Andrew Dent, Head of Environmental Health on 01200 414466.

Closing date for applications:  Sunday, 18th February 2024
Interviews will be held on:  Tuesday, 27th February 2024
