This post assists the Senior HGV and Municipal Vehicle Technician in ensuring that the Council’s municipal vehicle fleet is maintained to a high standard and is available for daily work. The maintenance is undertaken in the Council’s vehicle workshop on the Salthill Industrial Estate, Clitheroe.
In order to fully undertake the role of the HGV and Municipal Vehicle Technician you will have a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in the maintenance of municipal type vehicles and plant to include refuse collection vehicles, vans and machinery. You will have knowledge and experience in the use of vehicle and plant diagnostic systems. An LGV category C driving licence is an essential requirement, as is a National Craft Certificate in HGV maintenance (or equivalent or better). A CPC in National Road Haulage Management, a DVSA recognised Certificate for LGV inspections and an FLT driving licence would also be advantageous.
The HGV and Municipal Vehicle Technician should provide their own hand tools.
Whilst the working week is 37 hours from Monday to Friday, it is applied with the flexibility to ensure that vehicles are available for use as necessitated by the service.
