Assistant Planning Officer

37 hours per week
You will assist in all aspects of preparing a new local plan for the borough, including research, policy formulation and monitoring as well as related planning policy functions. You will help with consultation programmes and liaison with other agencies and authorities as part of this role.
The post is a key role in the Policy team working as part of a broad service area dealing with Economic Development, Regeneration, Housing and Community related issues with the opportunity to work on relevant projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
You should, ideally hold a planning degree or a degree in a related field. This is a career graded post and salary level is dependent on level of qualification, generally with relevant experience. A levels or equivalent Scale 4, relevant degree Scale 5 and eligibility for professional membership such as RTPI Scale 6.
Communication, organisation and report writing skills are essential and you must be able to work flexibly as part of a team. Experience of planning policy work would be beneficial and there will be the opportunity to undertake relevant training dependent upon qualifications.
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes is a requirement of this post.
