The property is a red brick bungalow with a blue slate hipped roof. It is situated in a rural area, on the main road between Longridge and Ribchester. The proposal is for single storey side extension, that will replace a flat roof garage. It will be in an 'L' shape around the rear of the house too. The proposal will be 12.9m long x 3.9m wide at the front elevation and 6.9m wide at the rear. It will match the same eaves height of the exiting house and then hip into the existing roof, with a gable to the rear. The design of the proposal is acceptable as it will match the existing house, and not dominate it. The proposal is large, however, it will replace a flat roof garage, which in my opinion will improve the appearance of the property. There is a field to the west of the house, therefore there will be minimal impact on any neighbouring amenities with regard to loss of privacy or light. The street scene will be improved by the replacement of the garage with the extension. 27/02/2006 |
