The property is a two storey house in Clitheroe. The proposal is to change an existing two storey flat roof extension to a pitched roof. The height will increase from 5metres to 7metres at the apex.The proposal will greatly increase the visual amenities of the street scene, by removing a flat roof and replacing it with a pitched roof, although I would prefer to see a hipped roof. However, this is not possible due to the shape and design of the existing flat roof. It would be virtually impossible to design a roof to hip around the shape. The pair of semi's are unbalanced at the moment due to the flat roof and therefore a pitched roof is a middle ground that will improve the street scene, and make the house more balanced than what is in situ.There will be minimal loss of privacy due to the insertion of velux windows.Loss of light issues will be minimal due to no. 48 having no side windows. 03/04/2006 |
