The property is a two storey end terraced house, in cream render with a tiled pitched roof. The proposal is for a two storey side extension and the reconstruction of a single storey rear extension. The proposal will be 3metres wide x 7.2metre long, it is set back from the front elevation of the house, and will have a pitched roof, similar to the existing. The single storey element will adjoin the two storey element at the rear, and will project 3metres from the existing rear elevation. It will be 5.7metres wide. It will have a sloping roof, being 3.9metres at the highest point. The proposal will not pose any loss of light issues to neighbouring properties as it is a corner plot and has no direct neighbours to the rear. The loss of privacy will be minimal too, as the proposal will be nearer to the road and the new windows created will not cause any impact. No.101 has no windows in the side elevation either. The design of the proposal is acceptable, it will be set back from the existing front elevation, reducing a terraced effect, and it has a pitched roof, which will help the proposal to fit in with the existing house. There is a range of styles of housing in the area, and the proposal would not interrupt a building line or cause an overbearing impact in the street scene. The size of the proposal and location is, in my opinion, acceptable. 15/03/2006 |
