The property is a large house on the outskirts of Read, off Whin Lane. The proposal is to erect a single storey extension to the existing annex/garage to use as a gym. It would have a sloping roof from the front elevation to the match the existing, with a wall to the rear. It would be 4.7m high at the highest point, and 2.7m at the front elevation. It would project 6m from the side elevation and would be 6.6m long. There are 4no. velux's proposed in the roof. There are no surrounding neighbours to the existing house, therefore no loss of neighbouring amenity issues.The design is acceptable and it will fit in with the existing annex. The size is acceptable as the site has a mixture of previous extensions, and the proposed would not cause a detrimental feature. There was an existing single storey building in situ, which has recently been demolished, however the proposed will fit in better with the existing ancillary accommodation, than the previously existing building.The proposal would not cause detriment to the surrounding open countryside. 12/06/2006 |
