The property is a detached house in Read. The proposal is for a retrospective 1.8m high timber fence. The proposal provides privacy to the garden of the applicant. It does no pose any loss of amenity issues to any neighbouring properties. The size and design is acceptable, and even though it adjoins the highway. It could be seen as a dominating feature within the street because of the dark stain, however it does not pose a detrimental feature to the estate and is not refuseable. The drive of no. 2 Masterson Avenue has a drive to the front of the house, with the garden to the rear and so there would be no visual splay issues to the drive of no.2, if it were adjoining the boundary. The material, being timber, is acceptable and in keeping with the area. There are other boundary treatments within the estate, being mainly hedges and bushes. 15/06/2006 |
