Several alterations to the farmhouse and two attached barns. Existing window and door openings to be utilised to good effect. Some new window openings proposed but fairly minor. Sympathetic alterations proposed to the barns. Two small extensions proposed to the rear elevations, one of which would be attached to the barn. I have expressed concern about this extension to the applicant and agent. Applicant says that the plans do not give an accurate representation of what they are proposing for this extension and in fact it would have stone door and window surrounds and will replicate a barn door type opening. Internally the farm and barns are a shell but the last occupation of the building is quite recent and residential use of the farmhouse has not been abandoned. Change of use of barns does not concern me provided there is no increase in the number of residential units at the site. The extent of residential curtilage is unclear due to dumping of building materials and rubble. Fence line with fields beyond would appear to form a logical boundary and current owner believes previous owner maintained and mowed this area as garden. Removal of large agricultural building and office and replacement with stone and slate stable/garage clear visual improvement to appearance of whole site, particularly when viewed from the road.
