Site visit The site is well screened from most view points by trees and bushes but has an open aspect to the rear. However, the trees and bushes to the front of the site would be removed for access to the garage - it would therefore appear more prominent in the landscape than it would seem from looking at the site now. I think it is over-large for its stated purpose and is larger than many dwellings in the area. The introduction of such a building in this area would dominate and be harmful to the surrounding open countryside. A public footpath runs straight next to the site so there would be clear views of the garage from here. One bonus arising from the scheme, however, is the demolition of the existing hotch-potch of buildings at the rear - these are hidden around the back of the house though. I sent a letter on 21 July 2004 requesting amended drawings.
